Summary: Sugarman provides comprehensive occupational health services to the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, including on-site support, health assessments, and ongoing collaboration to enhance workforce well-being and compliance.

In 2021, Sugarman was first awarded a contract to provide occupational health (OH) services for our independent not-for-profit client, the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH).

Since 2021, we have offered a combination of remote and on-site OH services, including:

From the outset, we have collaborated with UKCEH to deliver high-quality OH services tailored to workforce needs. During the mobilisation phase, this involved:

  • Providing UKCEH with a dedicated OH nurse for on-site clinics.
  • Implementing a robust pre-placement screening programme to ensure new employees have chance to raise any conditions they may need support with right from the start
  • Creating a reliable, secure system for storing confidential health records and making referrals
  • Having one dedicated point of contact to efficiently manage any queries or issues we may be facing.

Additionally, we provide UKCEH with several complimentary features that enhance service delivery, including:

  • Access to our Medical Director, who oversees the review of OH reports, physician appraisals, clinical governance, written instructions, medical advice, second opinions, and expert services related to the contract.
  • Access to our Clinical Lead, responsible for quality, compliance, audits, clinical governance, and advice on all OH-related matters.
  • A telephone advisory service for clinical and non-clinical inquiries.
  • Support for health and wellbeing initiatives.

In 2024, Sugarman were re-awarded the OH contract by UKCEH, continuing to foster strong working relationships and adding value.  Sugarman’s Clinical Lead and Service Delivery Manager continue to conduct regular meetings with the UKCEH People and Safety teams to discuss service delivery and review performance.

“Our Occupational Health team has been supportive and helpful with every query. Their involvement in our wellbeing initiatives, from health‑check MOT days to our annual flu vaccination clinics, and supporting our annual Move More campaigns has made a real difference to our colleagues. We’ve seen take-up on our flu vaccination clinics improve year after year thanks to their support and organisation. We really appreciate everything they do and look forward to continuing our work together in the future.” said Stuart Rogers, SHE Advisor for UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology.
