September Wellness: Strength, Support & Staying Active
by Sugarman Occupational Health
on 1st September 2025
September is a powerful reminder of how strength, both physical and mental, can shape our wellbeing. This month, we’re focusing on taking action early, staying active, and building a culture of support and recovery. Whether it’s through movement, meaningful conversations, or recognising those who care for others, it’s a time to prioritise health in all its forms.
World Physiotherapy Day lands on the 8th of September, the theme this year is healthy aging, with a focus on falls and frailty. The 8th is an opportunity to recognise the work that physiotherapists do for their patients and community. Whether it’s returning to work after an illness or preventing musculoskeletal issues in the first place, physiotherapy is essential to occupational health.
Workplace musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the most common causes of lost working days. Explore our MSK Service on our website and help Support your teams by booking an MSK Assessment.
World Suicide Prevention Day, is on the 10th of September and this year’s theme is “Creating Hope Through Action.” Suicide prevention starts with meaningful conversations, compassionate workplaces, and accessible mental health support.
Together, we can reduce stigma, offer connection, and remind each other that no one has to struggle alone. Every small act of support could be a lifesaving one.
13th September is World Sepsis Day. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body responds poorly to infection. Rapid recognition and treatment save lives. While it may not be widely understood, education is key to prevention and early diagnosis.
The message is simple: “Suspect Sepsis? Act Fast.”
Let’s move together! National Fitness Day on the 26th is a UK-wide celebration of the fun and benefits of physical activity. Whether it’s a brisk walk, lunchtime yoga, or a desk-based workout, movement improves mood, boosts energy, and enhances overall wellbeing.
You can get your workplace involved by running a steps challenge, team fitness competition or even a run club. Remember, it’s not about performance, it’s about progress. Every movement counts.
