How will I know that ill health retirement is the right option before ordering this service?

As an employer, determining whether ill-health retirement is the right option for an employee can be a complex process. We will help you determine if this is the right option considering things like;

Health Condition: Ill-health retirement is typically considered when an employee has a health condition or disability that makes it difficult for them to continue working in their normal job or significantly reduces their earning potential.

Permanent Incapability: Generally, you’ll need to establish that the employee is permanently incapable of continuing to do their job due to a physical or mental condition.

Treatment Options: Show that there are no further treatments or medication available that could enable the employee’s return to work before the normal pension age.

Employer Adjustments: As an employer, you have the responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to ensure your employees are not disadvantaged at work due to a medical condition or disability. If these adjustments make it possible for the employee to continue working, they might not need early retirement.

Terminal Illness: If the employee’s life expectancy is less than one year due to serious illness, they may be able to take the whole of their pension pot as a tax-free lump sum.

Legal and Medical Advice: Legal advice can help ensure the evidence for ill-health retirement is strong enough. The evidence should come from a medical professional who can show the impact the employee’s condition has on working.
